Isle de Ometepe, Nicaragua

Welcome to the island of Ometepe situated on Lago Nicaragua, which is the largest fresh water lake in Central America. The island is made up of two beautiful volcanos that can be ascended if you are a serious hiker

The only way to the island is via ferries either from Granada or San Jorge. My recommendation is San Jorge since it takes only an hour. This is where I ran into Aron and Sarafina from California who are riding two KLR 650's. I met them in Antigua and again waiting for the ferry to the island.

The island is very tranquil so if you want a place to chill for a week this would be it.  It consists of swimming holes and waterfalls with some crazy rough back-roads to get around the island.
