City of Lima

As with all large  cities Lima was an example in extreme contrasts between the rich and poor.

While driving into the city I could not believe the level of poverty I was seeing and was wondering why I was even bothering coming to the city. But in order to go to the southern Peru you have to go through the city of Lima.

Prior to arriving all I heard about was how terrible the traffic was in Lima. I can confirm that all reports are 100% accurate as I have never seen anything like this in my life. I was actually riding with a guy from Thailand who described it as Bangkok on steroids.

Once through the traffic (an still alive) we and found ourselves in the neighbourhoods of Barranco and Miraflores which were absolutely great.

Both areas are along the coast and consist of shops, restaurants and bars. If you want to surf just take a quick walk do too the beach.

There are many parks throughout Lima and I found one that offers a water and light show every wednesday to Sunday form

  2. Agree, Lima once out of the barrios is a great happening city. Malls, nice condos etc...From what I have heard Bolivia will be the most economical country to travel as well.
